Our crew has put together a list of local favorites to help you get the most out of your Tahoe vacation. Most of these places are walking distance from the cabin.
Our favorite beaches that are very close to the Carnelian Bay Basecamp.
Dog friendly beach with picnic tables. Beach is more rocky them most but easy to get to. Adjacent coffee shop and gear rental. It's is typically a huge dog show!
Sandy beach with nice grass area and restrooms. Adjacent to Gar Woods so you can bring Wet Woody roadies down to the beach!
This is a larger beach with restrooms, picnic areas and a boat launch. Roped off swimming area is good. Street parking is usually available but there is a large (paid) parking lot across the street. Nice for paddle boarding.
Really close Restaurants to the Carnelian Bay Basecamp that we visit regularly.
Iconic bar and restaurant on the beach. A must see. It is a little pricey and can get very crowed on summer weekends. Local tip is to use the outdoor chairs by the beach if too crowed inside, or get your Wet Woody to go and drink it on the beach. Walking the pier is a must.
Local hangout with large variety on the menu. Includes pizza and sandwiches. Does a big takeout business for locals.
Local favorite for massive breakfast and great lunches. Can be very crowed for breakfast so get there early. Great ambiance of a real old post office.
Closest places to get groceries and provisions
Don't laugh. They actually have a decent selection of staples, and they are one of the few 7-Elevens that can sell hard alcohol in addition to great selection of beer and wine. Adjacent to CBs Bistro and across the street from Gar Woods so you can pick up a night cap or Slurpee on your way home.
The best option for local grocery shopping. Make sure you have your Club Card because prices can be high. The store can get hammered (meaning bare shelves in places) on summer and holiday weekends so shop early. There is a Starbucks in the store if you need a quick hit.
Not a grocery store but has basically anything else you may need. You will be amazed at how much stuff they can cram into that little building.
